My first introduction into a group fitness class was when I was 18.
I was the short girl with a unibrow, dressed in gym shorts and a baggy tee. I didn’t feel like I belonged because in my mind, everyone looked like a supermodel except for me. I was insecure and embarrassed.
That feeling, that moment was planted in my brain forever. NO ONE will ever feel that way at Energy.
I became certified and taught my first "real" class in 1987, founded Energy in 2008, and we moved to our own facility in 2014. Over all those years, I never lost that “short girl with the unibrow feeling”. I never forgot how she felt. Awkward. Intimidated.
I founded Energy because I knew there were others who felt that way. People who were seeking a community, not a competition with others; but a healthy competition with yourself.
A place where you wouldn’t be judged, but accepted.
A place where you could laugh and work hard.
A place where people felt inspired and supported.
That’s why I founded Energy, and my mission hasn’t changed!
