MEET MARI.
“I absolutely love Debra and Energy Pilates & Fitness’s motto of ‘Strong is the New Skinny.’ We lead busier lives with the majority of our time being devoted to others; to be strong, healthy, and take care of ourselves – it’s a major key to leading a happy, balanced life.”
Mari has been a member at Energy for more than 5 years and is now becoming more involved by taking on the position of Accounting Services and Payroll. [Note to all Energy employees: BE NICE TO MARI!!!!!]
Mari is a native Minnesotan and grew up in Winona, where her family still lives. For university she ‘went out of state’ all the way to the University of St. Thomas where she held a double major in General Business and Computer Science. The Twin Cites will always be Mari’s home; she loves it here! “I love our home in the woods in Newport. I’m able to observe nature every day out my window... red fox, wild turkeys, and deer. It's all so peaceful and beautiful until I see them snack on my recent Gertens purchases!”
Mari’s big sport throughout childhood was tennis. She lived and breathed it until a knee injury slowed her down and she decided to focus on academics in college. But now she feels right at home in the group fitness setting at Energy. “The instructors motivate me with continually teaching new and interesting moves, all the while distracting you with their funny stories and enthusiasm.”
Mari loves all of the classes at Energy that involve free weights, such as Barre, Sculpt, and Zen Strength Yoga. “With consistently showing up to these classes, I have seen my arms transform before my eyes. I look and feel stronger than ever! I also couldn't do it without the kind, fun, wonderful staff of the Energy Child Care.”
Favorite Food: Punch Pizza... a simple but perfect margherita
Favorite Dessert: My friend Kristy's 'knock-you-naked brownies'
Favorite Leisure Activity: I am happiest with a freshly brewed coffee, a fiction novel in my hand, and one of my two cats curled on my lap. I also live for a weekend afternoon nap – which doesn’t happen much as the Mom of three young boys.
