MEET JEANNIE.
After years of searching for a fitness routine that worked for her, Jeannie was encouraged by a close friend to give Energy a try. After 1 class with Nancy, she was hooked and joined as a member in 2014.
In late 2015 her fitness journey took a turn when she suffered from mysterious medical issues. While she tried to continue taking the classes she had come to love so much, the medical issues took their toll both physically & mentally. After 2 years of testing a solution was found and she was excited to get back to a regular fitness routine. In addition to classes, Jeannie decided to add Personal Training with Debra to her routine. This combination boosted her confidence to where it had once been and she was starting to feel like her old self. And then....on June 3rd, 2018, on her way to a PT session with Debra, she tripped and shattered her right ankle. Of course her first call was to Debra to cancel their session before finding a ride to the ER. This was a huge setback. The injury required her to be on total bed rest for 12 weeks and limited activity for 12 weeks after in order for the 7 pins to take hold. This meant NO physical activity. Again, her mental state took a toll and Reese's peanut butter cups became her best friend. But she was determined. She knew that this was just one more roadblock in her journey and she would overcome this as she had in the past. As soon as she was able to begin Physical Therapy, she asked when she could also resume Personal Training. After a few weeks of hard work she was given the green light. She immediately resumed training with Debra, who tailored their sessions to strengthen the ankle while still being careful to not disturb the healing process. It was hard work but it was all worth it. At her 6 month check-up appointment with her surgeon, she was told that her progress was incredible and that she could resume all normal physical activities - 6 months ahead of schedule! This was such a huge mental boost that Jeannie was inspired to share this with everyone. She truly believes that her ability to heal so quickly was the fact that she kept pursuing her fitness goals no matter how many times life knocked her down. She became so inspired that she decided to pursue becoming an instructor. Pilates was her first love (thanks to Nancy) and she went head first into studying and testing. Rather than slow down, she also pursued her Group Fitness & Barre certifications as well. She is very excited to be a part of the Energy family that has been so encouraging and supportive over the past several years. She hopes to take her own experiences to help others on their own fitness journey! |
